Swami Vivekananda arrived in Delhi for the first time at the age of 27. In Delhi he stayed at the home of Seth Shyamal Das. He had left from Merut without telling anyone. In Delhi, he visited the places of historical importance. Later while visiting several foreign places, he would sometimes recall Delhi and write in his letters that those places looked like Delhi.
