As the earliest known part of this village, it is known that the village was established by a person named Sri Pal who came here from Kheda Khurd in year 1368. The earlier name of this village was Haripur. Later the village was purchased by a Muslim named Sheikh Ali and hence it was named as Ali Pur.

The history of Alipur village of Delhi shines with its fight against the British rule. People of this village revolted against the British rule so strongly that the British declared whole village as "Baghi". 78 members of this village were hanged/executed by the British for their fight for freedom.
