In Delhi's history, there was a time when Maratha Empire used to rule over Delhi. Today, the Marathi community in Delhi have mixed with local culture very well. They love Marathi food as well as Delhi's local Chhole-Bhature. From the pages of history, after getting unexpected defeat in the third war of Panipat, a lot of Marathas started living in Delhi and nearby Haryana. Later in 1772, Mahadji Shinde had brought and allowed exiled Mughal ruler Shah Alam II to sit on Delhi's throne; in exchange of Marathas getting most of the administration powers.
